Head and shoulders portrait of Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough, facing forward and looking off to the right as viewed. He wears military coat with sash and tyewig. In an oval frame with ribbon at the top.
Inscribed ‘Bannerman sculp. CHARLES DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH’ and pencilled ‘1743’.
Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1744.
