Description
Head and shoulders portrait of William Stukeley, turned to the right as viewed and looking back to viewer. He wears full wig, collarless jacket and necktie.
Inscribed in pen ‘Stukely FRS’ and pencilled ‘1717’.
William Stukeley was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1718 and was on the council from 1719 to 1720 and 1725.
