Half-length portrait of William Swainson, seated at a table and turned three quarters to the left as viewed. He wears regency-style clothing with short hair and side whiskers, and holds paper with illustration [of parrot?] in left hand.
Inscribed ‘Swainson. 1820’ in pencil.
William Swainson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1820.
