SHE IS THE NEW PROFESSOR OF PLANT PHYSIOLOGY. DR PORTER BECAME A POST-GRADUATE STUDENT IN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AT THE COLLEGE, THEN TRANSFERRED TO THE BOTANY DEPARTMENT AS RESEARCH ASSISTANT.     Helen Kemp Porter (1899-1987) was a plant physiologist and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1956.
