    Head and shoulders portrait of Helen Kemp Porter seated at an office desk, facing forward and looking directly to viewer. She is lit by light from the window on the left hand side, bookcase to the right. She wears beaded necklace, spectacles and short tightly curled hair. Possibly taken in her office at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, Kensington.

    Inscribed on the back in pen ‘1958 Taken by Martue [?]’ and pencilled ‘20’.

    Helen Kemp Porter (1899-1987) was a plant physiologist and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1956.
