    Full length portrait of a group of Australian and British surgeons, physiologist and anatomists, standing in front of building. From left to right: Sir Alan Newton, Frederic Jones, Charles Kellaway, Arthur St George Joseph McCarthy Huggett, Sir Cecil Wakeley, Sir Hugh Devine and [Wheeler?].

    Inscribed in pencil on the back ‘Sir Allen Newton, VP RACS. Wood Jones, Anatomy [?]. Kellaway, Physiology. H. Wakeley. Sir Hugh Devine, VP RACS. Wheeler (Registrar) RACS’.

    In 1946 the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons commenced a new system of admission by examination based on the method adopted from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Huggett was an examiner for the University of London at Overseas Universities with the object of maintaining common standards of medical training.

    Sir Hibbert Alan Stephen Newton (1887-1949) was an Australian surgeon.

    Frederic Wood Jones (1879-1954) British anatomist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1925.

    Charles Halliley Kellaway (1889-1952) Australian medical researcher was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1940.

    Arthur St George Joseph McCarthy Huggett (1897-1968) was a British physiologist and obstetrician, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1958.

    Sir Cecil Pembrey Grey Wakeley, 1st Bt (1892-1979) was a British general surgeon.

    Sir Hugh Berchmans Devine (1878-1959) was an Australian surgeon.
