    Decorative book cover design featuring Fraunhofer absorption lines on a light spectrum. The spectrum is shown within an arched border above and below which is a sun and globe respectively, and four stars, possibly intended to represent the Southern Cross.

    Sir Henry Enfield Roscoe (1833-1915) British chemist and university administrator was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1863.
