Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Robert Udny facing forward with head turned to the right as viewed, looking off to distance. He wears high collared jacket with waistcoat, shirt and cravat. In an oval frame.
Inscribed on paper mount in pen ‘ROBERT UDNY UDNY FRS’ and pencilled ‘1785’. On separate paper the printed inscription reads ‘Robt Udny Udny Esqr. F.R.S. & S.A.’ and ‘ALL MY HOPE IS IN GOD’ in scroll.
Robert Udny was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1785.
