Description
Head and shoulders portrait of William Watson inclined to the right as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears short wig with queue and a coat with decorative sleeves. In an oval frame.
Inscribed ‘Abbott pinxt. Thornthwaite sculp. Sr. Wm. Watson, M.D.’ and pencilled ‘1767’.
Sir William Watson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1741.
