Description
Half-length portrait of James Watt seated in three-quarter profile to the left and looking out to viewer. He wears short hair and is dressed in regency-style clothing of jacket, waistcoat, white shirt and cravat.
Inscribed ‘James Watt, Esqr, F.R.S. &c &c.’
James Watt was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1785.
The engraving appears incomplete and has a liquid stain to the left hand side.
