    Head and shoulders portrait of John Whitehurst in right profile, looking off to distance. Oval in a rectangular frame.

    Inscribed ‘JOHN WHITEHURST, F.R.S.’ and pencilled ‘1779’.

    John Whitehurst was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1779.
