Head and shoulders portrait of Benjamin Wilson, turned to the left as viewed and looking back over left shoulder, he wears long wig with queue.
Inscribed ‘Benj Wilson FRS’ and pencilled ‘1751’.
Benjamin Wilson was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1751, he was awarded the Copley Medal in 1760 for his experiments in the electrical properties of tourmaline.
