    Full length portrait of Charles Lyell seated in three quarter profile to the left as viewed, he holds a book in his lap. Set within a room with book shelf, carved wall panels and draped curtain.

    Sir Charles Lyell was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1826, he was awarded the Royal Medal in 1834 and the Copley Medal in 1858.
