Head and shoulders portrait of Charles Darwin in three quarter profile to the right as viewed. He wears jacket over waistcoat and has a full beard.
Inscribed ‘Engraved for Eclectic by Geo. E. Perine N.Y. PROF. CHARLES DARWIN.’
Charles Darwin was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1839, he was on the council from 1854-1856. He was awarded the Royal Medal in 1853 and the Copley Medal in 1864.
