Half-length portrait of Humphrey Davy in three quarter profile to the right as viewed, seated at a desk with papers, lamp and inkwell. He wears regency-style clothing and holds left hand to chin and points to paper with his right.

Sir Humphry Davy was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1803 he was on the council from 1807-1812 and was President from 1820-1827.
