Half-length portrait of John Abernethy in right three-quarter profile. He wears regency-style clothing of high collared jacket, waistcoat, shirt, and cravat.
Inscribed ‘JOHN ABERNETHY, ESQ F.R.S.’ with facsimile signature and pencilled ‘1796’.
John Abernethy was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1796.
