Description
Half-length portrait of James Annesley, inclined to the right as viewed. He wears curled wig and is dressed in plain coat with waistcoat and shirt. A ship in in the background to the right and an otter being chased by two dogs with a man playing a horn to the left as viewed.
Inscribed ‘The Honble. James Annesley Esqr. Parr sculp according to Act of Parliament.’
James Annesley was a peerage claimant, he was not a Fellow of the Royal Society. This print was possibly collected in error believed to be James Annesley, the 2nd Earl of Anglesey who was a Fellow of the Royal Society.
