    Head and shoulders portrait of John Arbuthnot inclined to the right as viewed and looking back over to the left. He wears turban, shirt and gown.

    Inscribed ‘T. Prescott sculp. Pub. By C. Dyer of Compton Street, Soho. John Arbuthnot M.D.’ and pencilled ‘1704’.

    John Arbuthnot was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1704.
