Half-length portrait of Matthew Baillie seated facing forward and looking off to the right as viewed, he holds his hands in his lap. He wears regency-style double breasted jacket with shirt and cravat.
Inscribed on paper support ‘M Baillie MD FRS’ and pencilled ‘1790’.
Matthew Baillie was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1790.
