    Half-length portrait of Frederick William Beechey seated at a desk holding a map in left hand. He wears military uniform of jacket with braid and epaulettes and high collared shirt with dark cravat.

    Inscribed in pencil on paper support ‘1824 Capt Beechey’.

    Frederick William Beechey was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1824, he was Vice President from 1855 until 1856.
