Head and shoulders portrait of William Henry Cavendish Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland seated left and looking three-quarters to the left as viewed, not quite in full profile. He wears wig with queue and holds right hand to cheek.
Inscribed ‘WILLIAM HENRY DUKE OF PORTLAND K.G. F.R. and A.S. Late a Vice President of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce. Drawn & Engraved by Wm Evans from an original Painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds in the Possession of the present Duke of Portland’ and pencilled ‘1739’.
William Henry Cavendish Bentinck, 3rd Duke of Portland was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1766.
