    Description
    Head and shoulders portrait of Charles Boyle, 4th Earl of Orrery inclined to the left as viewed and looking out to viewer. He has a long curled wig and is wearing the Order of the Thistle on the left-hand breast of his jacket. Oval in a rectangular frame.

    Inscribed ‘Charles Boyle Earl of Orrery, Baron Boyle of Marston in England & Baron Broghill in Ireland, and One of the Knights of the Most Antient Order of the Thistle. Baron Sc’ and pencilled ‘1706. 1/-‘

    Charles Boyle, 4th Earl of Orrery was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1706.
