Half-length portrait of Richard Brocklesby in three-quarter profile to the right as viewed, he rests left hand inside waistcoat and holds book with right.
Inscribed ‘EUROPEAN MAGAZINE. Engraved by Ridley from an Original Picture by Copley. Richard Brocklesby, M.D. F.R.S. Published by J. Sewell, Cornhill, June 1st 1798.’
Richard Brocklesby was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1747.
