Head and shoulders portrait of Thomas Browne wearing shoulder length hair and dressed in jacket, cape and falling collar. Oval in a rectangular frame with crest and inscription below.
Inscribed ‘F.H. Van Houe. Sculp: Effigies viri Doc: tissimi Tho: Browne Equ: Aur: et Med: Doctoris’ and pencilled ‘1699. 2/-‘
Thomas Browne was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1699.
