Head and shoulders portrait of Willem Buys inclined to the left as viewed and looking back to viewer. He wears full length wig with lace cravat. Oval in a rectangular frame with inscription below.
Inscribed ‘C.Netscher pinx, 1693 AEt.32. Mr. WILLEM BUYS, Pensionaris van Amsterdam, Plenipotentiaris op de Utrechtsche Vredehandeling enz. A. Schouman del naar’t Origineel in de Familie. J. Houbraken Sec. IS. TIRION excud’ and pencilled 1706/5’.
Willem Buys was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1706.
