    Chemical chart of solutions and precipitates of gold and platinum salts in wine glasses, illustrating the colours of each. Figure 73 shows chloroauric acid [‘Chlor-Gold’] in five solutions. Figure 74 shows chloroplatinic acid [‘Chlor-platina’] in five solutions including (number 5) with a zinc plate. Above are four inset figures intended to show the colours of both in weak and concentrated solutions contained in bottles.

    Figures 73-74 from Das Laboratorium…v.1 (Weimar, 1840). Inscribed above ‘Taf: LXXIII. LXXIV.’ Figures are headed ‘GOLD’ and ‘PLATINA’ and there is a numbered key to each solution beneath the images.
