From a collection of photographs belonging to John Warcup Cornforth, an accompanying letter indicates these micrographs were possibly taken by Robert Robinson during his experimental work with Cornforth on the synthesis of substances relating to the sterols.
Robert Robinson (1886-1975) was a British organic chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1920 and served as President from 1945 until 1950.
John Warcup Cornforth (1917-2013) was an Australian chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1953.
