    The European Symposium on Bio-organic Chemistry (ESBOC) was initiated by Professor Cedric Hassall FRS in 1967 and is held at Gregynog Hall, Wales.

    John Warcup Cornforth (1917-2013) was an Australian chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1953.

    Rita Harriet Cornforth (1915-2012) was not a Fellow of the Royal Society she was an Australian organic chemist.

    Cedric Herbert Hassall is a British chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1985.
