    Stamped on the reverse ‘Photograph of OWEN & MORONEY 336 Uxbridge Road, W.12 TEL 01-743 1141’, further inscribed ‘J.W.Cornforth, A.R. Battersby, D, Arigoni. Ciba Dec 1977’ and pencilled ‘6385-4’.

    John Warcup Cornforth (1917-2013) was an Australian chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1953.

    Alan Rushton Battersby (1925) is a British organic chemist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1966.

    Duilio Arigoni (1928) is a Swiss chemist.
