Full length seated portrait of Frank Buckland, posed with natural history specimens, cabinets, fossils and shells. The sitter holds a large salmon in his left hand; his right holds a pen or pencil and a set of papers rests on his knee. Behind, a narwhal tusk lies against a bookcase, with framed pictures above and to each side.
