    Description
    Landscape showing colonies of seabirds nesting on cliffs and a sea-stack on the North-east coast of the island of Grimsey, Iceland. In the foreground are ice floes, near one of which is a moored boat. There are four human figures, one of whom is a hunter, shown leveling a rifle or musket at the birds.

    Friedrich August Ludwig Thienemann (1793-1858) German physician and ornithologist embarked on a tour of Norway and Iceland with Gustav Biedermann Günther (1801-1866) German surgeon, during the years 1819-1820.
