    Half-length studio portrait of Nehru, seated and looking directly to camera, his left hand upon his face, elbow crooked, and the right hand on the armrest of his chair.

    Signed by Nehru in ink, lower right, ‘Jawaharlal Nehru Sept 1947’. Inscribed in ink along the lower margin: ‘Bombay, 26.4.45 Photo by A.J. Patel F.R.P.S.’

    Pasted into a photograph album of visits to India, with images collected by Patrick Blackett, largely 1954-55 and 1971.

    Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett, Baron Blackett of Chelsea (1897–1974), British physicist and government and military adviser, was President of the Royal Society 1965-1970.
