Description
Full length group portrait including Ashley Miles, at the Exhibition for Economic Achievements (Vystavka dostizheni narodnogo khoziaistva, VDNKh), Moscow. Model of Sputnik satellite can be seen suspended above. Taken on the occasion the Royal Society visited the USSR Academy of Sciences, October 1965.
Arnold Ashley Miles (1904-1988) was a British microbiologist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1961 and was on the Council from 1963-1968.
