    Description
    Three-quarter length portrait of Christopher Wren to the left as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears a long periwig and is dressed in fine clothes of a red coat with gold buttons, white shirt and neck cloth. Seated on a high backed red chair, he rests his right arm on a table with a drawing of a ground plan [of St Pauls?] and a book by Uclid. He holds a divider in his right hand and is posed with left hand on his hip [next to a sword hilt ?].

    Inscribed ‘Published 1923 by the Museum Galleries, 26 Museum Street, London, W.C. Copyright’ top centre and pencilled signature ‘William Jeans’ lower right. Embossed logo ‘IJNL’ lower left.

    Christopher Wren was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1660, he served as its President from 1680 to 1682. Wren was a founder of the Society.
