Description
Two zoological studies of bats. Figure 1 (below) shows the Lesser horseshoe bat Rhinolophus hipposideros. Figure 2 (above) shows a Long-eared bat, probably Plecotus auritus. Both mammals are presented against a background of old stonework.

Louis Jean Marie Daubenton (1716-1800), French naturalist and encyclopaedist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1755.
