Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Walter Chetwynd turned to the left and looking back to viewer. He wears long natural hair and is dressed in cape and falling collar.
Inscribed ‘WALTER CHETWYND, ESQRE OF INGESTIRE. Engraved by Henry Meyer from a Picture by Sir Peter Lely in the possession of Earl Talbot. Published April 1820, by J. Nichols & Son’ and pencilled ‘1677’.
Walter Chetwynd was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1678.
