Inscribed ‘Revd Thomas Crofts A M. Published March 1 1818 by W Clarke New Bond Street’ and pencilled ‘1776’.
Thomas Crofts (1722-1781) was a British clergyman and traveller; he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1776.
