    Description
    Half-length portrait of William Cullen standing over a desk with right arm outstretched in a reaching pose. His left hand rests on a book upon a table with papers and inkwell. A roman-style bust in the background on the right hand side as viewed. Cullen wears a richly decorated robe with braid detail and a long curled wig.

    Facsimile signature on separate paper ‘William Cullen M.D. F.R.S. L&E.’ and pencilled on paper support ‘WILLIAM CULLEN ?’.

    William Cullen (1710-1790) was a British physician, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1777.
