Head and shoulders portrait of James Currie inclined to the right and looking back to viewer. He wears a high-collared double-breasted coat with cravat.
Inscribed Engraved by J Brain from an Original Painting JAMES CURRIE, M.D. F.R.S.’ and further inscription on paper support ‘Ja Currie MD FRS’.
James Currie (1756-1805) was a British physician; he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1792.
