Head and shoulders portrait of Alexander Dalrymple inclined to the right as viewed. In an oval frame, cut out.
Inscribed on separate paper ‘ALEXANDER DALRYMPLE Esq. F.R.S.’ and pencilled ‘1771’ on paper support.
Alexander Dalrymple (1737-1808) was a British hydrographer, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1771.
