Head and shoulders portrait of Louis Jean Marie Daubenton facing forward and gazing off to the right as viewed. He wears short wig with collarless-jacket and lace cravat.
Inscribed ‘Ambroise Tardieu direxit. DAUBENTON’ and pencilled ‘elc 1755. 13/1’.
Louis Jean Marie Daubenton (1716-1800) was a French naturalist, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1755.
