Head and shoulders portrait of Alfred Louis Olivier Des Cloizeaux, he wears a fine jacket with braid detail and decorated with four medals on his left breast and one on a ribbon around his neck. Oval in a rectangular frame.
Facsimile signature and inscribed ‘Héliog. Dujardin’ and pencilled ‘1875’.
Alfred Louis Olivier Des Cloizeaux (1817-1897) was a French mineralogist and crystallographer; he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1875.
