Description
Half-length portrait of Daniel Dumaresq in three quarter profile to the left as viewed, he wears buckled wig and is dressed in cassock and bands. He is seated in an interior with bookshelf to the left and draped curtain to the right, he rests left hand on a book placed upon a table in the foreground, it is inscribed on the spine ‘VOL III’.
Daniel Dumaresq (1712-1805) was a Jersey-born British clergyman, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1761.
Inscribed ‘Engraved by W. Nutter from a miniature painted by T. le Hardy. Revd. DANIEL DUMARESQ, D.D. AEtat. 86’ and pencilled ‘1761’.
