Description
Head and shoulders portrait of William Eden, 1st Baron Auckland in right profile. He wears buckled wig with queue and is dressed in deep-collared jacket with frilled cravat. Oval in a rectangular frame and decorated with laurel branches, scroll, serpents and a staff ornamented with wings.
Inscribed ‘Engraved by T. Holloway. THE RT. HON: WM. EDEN.’ Pencilled ‘1786’.
William Eden, 1st Baron Auckland (1744-1814) was a British statesman, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1786.
