    Sir Alexander Fleming (1881-1955), British bacteriologist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1943.

    Acquired by the Society in 1970.

    First recorded in the Minutes of the Officers Meetings Committee , 16 July 1970 [OM/2/14]: 'Consideration was given to a suggestion by the Librarian that the Society should purchase...a bust of Sir Alexander Fleming, F.R.S. by Mr. [Ernest Roland] Bevan.'
