    Bust of Robert Hooke, in classical style but made from cotton fabric with printed text and illustrations from Micrographia.

    Robert Hooke (1635-1703) was a British natural philosopher, he was an original Fellow and Curator of experiments to the early Society.
    Object history
    Provenance: Purchased from the artist, 2003.

    A series of modern portraits of Hooke were commissioned to commemorate the tercentenary of his death. Part of an international conference by the Royal Society and Gresham College entitled Restoring the reputation of Robert Hooke, July 2003
