Head and shoulders portrait of Richard Farmer inclined to the right as viewed and looking out to viewer. He wears short wig and is dressed in cassock and bands.
Inscribed ‘Richard Farmer. D.D. F.A. & R.S.S.’ and pencilled ‘1791’ on paper support.
Richard Farmer (1735-1797) was a British Shakespearean scholar and Master of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1791.
