    Head and shoulders portrait of Thomas Forster turned to the right and looking back to viewer. He wears a long curled periwig and is dressed in an overcoat, shirt and necktie.

    Inscribed ‘THOMAS FORSTER, ESQRE. Knight of the Shire for the County of Northumberland during several Parliaments & General of the Unfortunate Army at Preston, 1715. Engraved by J.T. Wedgewood, from a miniature by Rosalba, painted at Venice. Published by T. RODD Junr & H. ROOD. 17 Little Newport St Leicester Square.’ Pencilled ‘(1706?)’

    Thomas Forster (1683-1738) was a Northumberland landowner and politician, he was not a Fellow of the Royal Society.
