Inscribed ‘Derby. Thomson. SIR JOHN FRANKLIN CAPT. R.N. FISHER, SON & CO. LONDON 1830’ with facsimile signature and pencilled ‘1823 bottom left.
John Franklin (1786-1847) British Royal-Navy officer and polar explorer, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1823.
