Description
Head and shoulders portrait of Samuel Glasse inclined to the left as viewed, in an interior setting with a bookcase and curtain beyond. He wears cassock and bands and has a mid-length wig.
Inscribed ‘The REVD. S. GLASSE, D.D. F.R.S.’ and pencilled ‘1764’.
Samuel Glasse (1735-1812) was the Rector of Wanstead, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1764.
